 Slow Warm Up Track

In the centre of the Darling Downs Estate is a sand surfaced warm up track that runs around the outside of the cross country course. The track is about 1600 meters long and is used by trotters and cart combinations as well as riders.

It is a slow track for trot and canter work only. No galloping is allowed for safety reasons. The track must be ridden in an anticlockwise direction at all times.

DDRA volunteers grade the track in the early morning at least three times a week. This ensures that the track is soft, even, and safe to be ridden on by horse and rider.

“No hour of life is wasted that is spent in a saddle.”
